ABT “season” the new Volkswagen Beetle

Volkswagen Beetle is, in number version, a nice car, often labeled as a “girls car”. German tuner ABT has decided to change the image of the model from Wolfsburg with an interesting tuning package.

Even in the version equipped with 2.0 liter engine and 200 PS, the Volkswagen Beetle seems a good and nice car. Perhaps for this reason, German tuner ABT has decided to “spice up” the appearance of the Wolfsburg model. ABT began by installing a new front apron with a more aggressive look that includes a red line resembling the legendary Golf GTI. To highlight the sporting character of the German tuner from Allgäu staged a performance exhaust system with oval outputs.

The German tuner provides customers stickers that imitates carbon fiber with red accents, which give an air of a sporty new Beetle. Wheels are available in 18, 19 or 20 inches and covered with lights, a nice model that transforms a “quiet frog”  into an “evil frog”.

Volkswagen and Suzuki squabble over the name “GTI”

The dispute between Volkswagen and Suzuki fot the name “GTI” finally reached to a verdict. See below who’s the winner! European Court of Justice has finally issued a verdict for Volkswagen vs. Suzuki dispute dating back more than eight years.

The dispute started from the fact that Suzuki added in 2003 for the European market, Swift model name to be called “GTI”. Heads of VW don’t liked this little trick did by the Japanese, and immediately complained to the European Court of Justice claiming that Suzuki uses illegally the “GTI”, leading to confusion their model (Golf GTI ) with Japanese (Suzuki Swift).

European Court of Justice has delivered its judgment, dismissing the Volkswagen group, saying that the two models can not be confused either visually or phonetically in a country where they were sold.

This conflict can damage the partnership between Suzuki and Volkswagen, which some say is moving towards a “divorce”. Germans can appeal the court decision, but so far not made ​​any official announcement.
