Mercedes-Benz SL, the convertible that for decades is the most popular stars in Hollywood came when a new generation. The seventh, to be exact. After the first official photos of the new SL were published on the internet, it is time to learn more details about the car.

First, the roadster marks a first in the range German manufacturer, through the use of aluminum for almost all parts of the car. Body and chassis not only benefit from this material, but also multi-link suspension, which makes the car weight, is less than in previous generations with 140 kg.

According to the German officials, the car would have been even easier, but many safety systems on board imposed a compromise for active and passive safety. Thus, the car will be equipped with Pre Safe, Distronic Plus or Attention Assist, equipment already established on other models of the mark.

Those who will enjoy a ride with the folding hard top than in the company of the highest quality music will appreciate FrontBass system, which uses the chassis to enhance and optimize the sound provided by the sub-woofer. But there is something special for those who prefer to leave the roof unfolded.

The ceiling of the new Mercedes SL will be available in two versions: one glass and one equipped with extravagant Magic Sky Control, which allows setting the level of transparency in the cabin. Magic Vision Control system is the pompous name that Germans use to incorporating wipers and windshield cleaning nozzles.

But to reach the most important part of the new SL, namely the engines offered by Mercedes-Benz. For starters, the car will be available in Europe in two petrol versions. SL 350 will be equipped with V6 engine 302 horsepower, capable of delivering a torque of 370 Nm and fuel consumption of 6.8 l/100 km.

The range performer, until the intervention of the AMG, will be SL 500, one of which took the V8 flagship S-class will make 429 hp and a starting range of 0 to 100 km/h of 4.6 seconds. Those who want, however, an exclusive SL, from the beginning, shall have the limited edition “Edition 1″.

The new CL 63 AMG – The perfect car?

CL crown jewels are AMG versions. Very expensive, very fast, equipped exclusive, these beautiful creations of Mercedes-Benz sports division has evolved enormously over the years. From the 55 AMG 2001 with 360 hp reached at 55 with 530 Nm from 2003 with turbocharger compressor, 500 hp and 700 Nm. Pre-crisis era meant the launch of 65 and later 63 versions,V8 biturbo and aspirated V12 with 6.2-liter. If the first version of which has survived because it was at a price level where the crisis does not really matter, since version 63 was amended this year in new economic spirit adopted by AMG. That means 5.5-liter turbo, 544 hp and 800 Nm.

Changing the engine of 6.2-liter among the models AMG coincided CL with the launch of a facelift designed to carry fresh menu to 2013 when will appear the new generation, at which very likely will become S-Class CL Coupe. Until then, the new headlights, grille, and rear bumpers have been restyled. The interior has been improved on level of materials and details (I think this is the hardest thing in the world – to make a better car from CL) and equipment. Of course, CL is now available with new models of rims and various shades of matte paint.

Without a lot of buttons and settings, CL 63 is the essence of super-luxury cars. The suspension is comfortable and just the average bumps up still remember that the suspension is set by AMG. If you still drive, engine sound and exhaust only you will remember the tremendous power and torque. Direction is nice as brakes and multi-disc clutch transmission works flawless on comfortable mode.

All evidence so far indicates that the CL 63 AMG is the car that has it all. Comfort, super-luxury, sportiness and personality. But I was right, there is no such thing. CL is near-perfect and that because of the box. Pushing the sounds of car you want to change gears manually. That Achilles heel to touch that means you gets you to change gears multi-disc box.

BMW M5 speaks in circles

All about the new M5 means desire. You will want this car once you actually see it. At the starting of the engine you already go crazy and that disposal does not sound so vulgar as an AMG or S, then we have to enjoy the quiet before the storm.

The car changes a lot between the standard and Sport Plus for all settings. In this way no the gear box changes only manual and when this happens to over 7,000 rpm, the two tons of M5 throb in you regardless of the gear. Of course, the exhaust noise of explosion is missing from the menu at each step change.  The evacuation is pretty quiet inside but the engine sounds like a racing car.

If you’re not careful, you will run non-stop at 160-200 km/h. You can not get enough of sound, force, halves, noise and reactions of transmission.  Quick turns are not a problem at over 140 km/h and you slow down anyway when the output is not very fast in very tight turns, feel how the car slides back and then sits and acceleration as an explosion occurs.

Regarding the DSC, it is better to stay on forever. M Dynamic Mode is a mode change that will allow DTC to control to over-steer a certain extent by the intervention system. I recommend MDM mode only at low speeds and only to experienced drivers, because you can escape the car under control even with late intervention electronics.

I think that BMW has built this car specifically for those who want to pursue a Ferrari with three other friends in the car. The first M5, now a collectors piece accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just over six seconds. And it took a quarter of century for the fifth generation of the M5, launched two days ago at the international press in Spain, to increase to 560 hp. The power has doubled in 25 years of M5. And at this is added sufficient electronic control even a NASA rocket. Otherwise it would be impossible to keep a monster on the road nearly two tons running over 300 km/h.
