The new Audi A1 Quattro promises to make headlines in the premium domain of the small class, it comes with a turbocharged 2.0 liter and 256 hp, a manual gearbox 6 speed and quattro all-wheel drive. In other words, a mini hot-hatch without rival for the moment, no other small class model exceeding the 250 hp barrier and without having wheel drive.

The maximum power of 256 hp of Audi A1 Quattro is obtained from a system of 6,000 rpm, while the maximum torque has an excellent value for 350 nm, obtained on a fairly wide range of engine speeds between 2,500 and 4,500 rpm. Therefore, A1 Quattro is a little devil, it start from 0-100 km/h in just 5.7 seconds and it has a top speed of 245 km/h.

It is interesting that the average consumption has a positive value, being quoted at just 8.5 litres/100 km. We mention from the important technical changes the adoption of a new direction with a revised reduction ratio of 14, 8:1, while the ESP stability control system has a new feature sports, but for extreme sensations can be completely disabled.

Audi A1 Quattro receive of a set of 18 inch wheels with a turbine design, like the famous Audi Quattro model who made headlines in rallies in the ’80s, and tires are in size of 225/35 R 18. The Germans made public the first official information about the new Audi A1 Sportback version, which will appeal to customers who want a better practicality of the Audi A1, the first pair brought additional doors.

Although Audi A1 Sportback has the length and wheelbase similar to A1 three-door version, the width and height increased each with 6 mm, to ensure a more generous interior space idea. However, the A1 Sportback continues to offer only four seats and a bench option is available for three people.

Audi A1 Sportback’s boot has still 270 liters, and 3-door version, which can be extended up to 920 liters, thanks to split fold rear seat. Otherwise, the A1 Sportback offers the same interior, same board and same range of standard and optional features as 3-door brother.

Audi A1 Sportback engines range consists of three petrol and three diesel engines:

• 1.2 TFSI 86 hp, the average consumption 5.1 liters/100 km

• 1.4 TFSI, 122 hp

• 1.4 TFSI, 185 hp, starting from 0-100 km/h in 7 seconds, top speed 227 km/h

• 1.6 TDI 90 hp, the average fuel consumption 3.8 liters/100 km

• 1.6 TDI 105 hp, the average consumption 3.8 liters/100 km

• 2.0 TDI, 143 hp, starting from 0-100 km/h in 8.5 seconds, the average fuel consumption 4.1 liters/100 km

For the top engine of 1.4 TFSI of 185 hp is provided standard the double-clutch automatic gearbox and 7-speed S tronic, but for the 1.4 TFSI engine, and 1.6 TDI 90 PS is only offered as an option. The prices in Germany start at 16,950 euro and the model will be available in the spring of 2012.

At the technical level, Audi A1 Clubsport quattro has over five-cylinder engine, 2.5 liter turbo system like the Audi TT RS. However, if the roadster comes to maximum output of 340 hp, at A1′s showcar power was taken to a value of 503 hp, while maximum torque reaches 660 Nm, produced between 2,500 and 5,300 rpm.
