Audi S6 – softer with you and friendlier with nature

Although I like to encourage the peaceful exploitation of machines mainly for reasons of safety, I think there are cars that should scare you. If they fail to do that with the elements of body segment in which it operates, car bearing model names that include letters M, S, RS or AMG should scare you. For today I will talk about Audi S and RS, fantastic letters of the fastest versions of the Audi.

If RS can be too much in terms of power, weight, and not least because of purchase prices and operating, S’s remain wide peaks that can be purchased from certain pockets. Yet they must also contain a dose of insanity because otherwise S badge should be pulled from the body and trestle on the shoulders of a soldier that was wrong.

Former generation of S6 was not the most beautiful car or the most aggressive limousine. But the V10 inscription on the wings betray the presence of V10 engine aspirated with displacement of 5.2 liters and borrowed on wonderfully and Gallardo. In 2006, this was not a problem because nobody cared so much about consumption and CO2 emissions. All that mattered was that the machine is fast and what was the point that Audi does not use Lamborghini engine?

With 435 hp and 540 Nm, super-S6 sedan accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 5.2 seconds, a good time for those days but still weak for the fantastic engine. Obviously, the problem was clear to everyone. Audi was not so concerned about the weight of the car and the V10 weighed heavily on the front. Maybe that was not the S6 sedan produced by Audi handy but certainly, you got ants spine with fabulous sound of the engine, the high speed regime in which it climbs with ease and simply fantastic idea that under the hood of a Lamborghini engine.

The crisis drove us all. And although there are builders who took it seriously and have built engines with smaller displacement but power rocket systems obtained with turbo, Audi has chosen to be more reserved with new S6. He received a four-liter V8 bi-turbo system off the cylinder, 420 hp and 550 Nm. What Audi announces first time you talk about the new S6? That is cheaper by 25%.

Of course, recent years have meant a considerable reduction of consumption thanks to new engines and reducing curb weight. S6 now have a smaller engine, turbocharging system, a billion other systems that reduce consumption and reduced weight by using intelligent intensive aluminum in body building. S6 fastest results for which are required only 4.8 seconds to reach 100 km/h starting immediately. Maximum speed remains limited to 250 km/h if you want more need to buy a Bentley Continental V8, the first group to receive this new engine.

Audi is presenting three “S” models at the same time. First on the list is Audi S6, in sedan and Avant version. The S6 boasts with a twin-turbo with V8 engine TFSI developing 420 hp and a torque of 550 Nm that is available from 1,400 rpm to 5,300 rpm. For S6 we are talking about a significant downsize at the engine. The old generation was aspirated with a V10 engine under the hood with 5.2-liter.

The new engine offers 15 hp less than the old aggregate but more than 10 Nm. However from 0-100 km / h the new model is faster by 0.5 seconds, needing 4.8 seconds (4.9 seconds for the Avant). Obviously the speed is limited to 250 km / h. The new S6 boasts with consumption by up to 25% lower than the old generation, the average being 9.7 liters.

To obtain this value S6 is equipped with start / stop system, but comes with a system called “cylinder on demand”. Obviously when we are talking about the S6-wheel drive, the power is sent to all four wheels through a seven-speed S tronic.

The Quattro system uses a differential center self-locking, and can be equipped with an optional limited slip differential rear axle. S6 comes as standard equipped with adaptive sports suspension. Standard model comes equipped with ventilated disc brakes front / rear, but can be equipped with optional ceramic discs.

Audi S6 has developed a system to mitigate noise. This system is called Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) and uses four microphones installed in the cockpit to analyze the level of noise present inside. The sounds detected are analyzed by a computer, then the speaker of the audio system sounds are generated to cancel noise detected unsightly.

The interior is customized in the spirit of “S”. No shortage of carbon trim, sport seats and superb top materials. Obviously there is a list of optional rich but the basic equipment will be extremely generous with S6. When we talk about technically then Audi S7 is identical with S6, the same engine, same power and torque values. S7 reach 100 km / h in 4.9 seconds.

Germans from Autobild published some preliminary details, obtained from their home, specifically from local manufacturer Audi, which apparently is planning on throwing a few figures of power on the auto market in new combinations designed and reinforced to the horsepower enthusiasts. S6/RS6, S7 and S8 are the new models prepared by Audi. Details, few indeed, about the engine, which accredits the idea of a V8 that has 500 hp for S8 model, while S6 and S7 will receive 440, 470 horsepower respectively.

By the end of 2012 Audi will unleash the RS6 beast, equipped with an engine designed to shatter the BMW M5 (560 hp), coming from the unit that currently fitted the S6 model. There are no known data on the ability of this engine, although the previously published information accredited the idea of a 4.0-liter V8, which ensures fuel economy by 20% compared with the V10 version of naturally aspirated, which will replace (photo).
