At Detroit Auto Show 2012, the Germans will present not one, but two versions of Mercedes-Benz E-Class hybrid: E 300 BlueTEC Hybrid (diesel-electric) and E 400 Hybrid. Here are the entire details about them.

The first hybrid version of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class is E300 BlueTEC Hybrid, and the Germans say it is the most economical sedan in the world: the average consumption is only 4.2 liters/100 km and CO2 emissions of 109 g/km. Currently, the most economical version of the E-Class range is E 220 CDI with an average consumption of 5.0 liters/100 km, so the new E 300 BlueTEC Hybrid has something to boast.

The propulsion system of the Mercedes-Benz E 300 BlueTEC Hybrid is the diesel engine of 2.2 liters and 204 hp version of the E 250 CDI, which is associated with only 20 kW electric motor (27 hp), but with a maximum torque of 250 Nm, half of the 500 Nm of engine. The model is equipped with a start/stop automatic motor system energy recovery during braking, and rolling in a strictly electric.

A second version of E-Class hybrid is Mercedes-Benz E 400, which combines a V6 gasoline engine, 3.5 liters and 306 hp electric motor with the same E 300 BlueTEC Hybrid, 20 kW. The average consumption of this version is rated at 27 mpg, according to American measurement, but the value for Europe has not yet been released.

Although the both versions will be presented in world premiere at Detroit in 2012, E 300 BlueTEC Hybrid will be sold first on the European market, while the E 400 Hybrid will be booked first, only in the North American market. Prices for Mercedes-Benz E 300 BlueTEC Hybrid we will find in the spring of 2012, but we do not know about Hybrid E 400 if and when will land on the Old Continent.
