There are only two years left until the mid-range german car will get a complete new technological arsenal and will become easier, breaking the contact with all previous generations. In time, Volkswagen Passat has won the the standard middle class status in Europe, a very important segment for auto manufacturers.

Formed in 2005, the current generation received a deeply facelift in 2010, but the growing need to berlin germany to renew total is increasingly felt in recent times. At Volfsburg, everybody’s working, so that the new generation of Volkswagen Passat, expected in 2014, it’s in the full process of work, starting with a new modular technical platform called MQB. The great advantage is that will be used for both mid-range machines and for the lower segments, such as compact and small.

The same basis will be used in designing the future Volkswagen Golf and Audi A3, and for Passat, MQB solution will ensure weight loss of about 50 kg, which is an important detail. These will be largely taken from the current generation, but in their case will adapt the start/stop system and also a catalyst to take care of Euro6 pollution standards. This will be the connection between a 170 CP engine and a thermal electric power that  will ensure a range of 50 km. The German engineers don’t forgot the entertainment part.

They’re preparing a very advanced interior car with multimedia system, also equipped with Bluetooth and iPod connection. It remains to see how the Volkswagen Passat will look in 2014.

The manufacturer from Wolsburg presented the Passat Exclusive model and Polo with R Line package, dedicated exclusively to German customers. The new generation of Volkswagen Passat, considered by some as merely a facelift of the larger mid-range model, has played early in his career newly appointed, the book distinction.

It seems, however, that the Germans from Volkswagen are determined to show how much you can offer the Passat, so that it provides for the Exclusive version. On the other hand, Volkswagen Polo R is closer to reality, even though this time only materializes aesthetic as a kit, without any technical improvements available for Comfortline and Highline team levels.

Designed exclusively for the German market, the two cars have been improvements in visual order, but the technique has remained untouched. Thus, the youngest Polo R Line received 16 or 17 inch wheels, with special design bumpers typical of VW R, and a speaker at the back.

The side skirts complete the look sporty hatchback and the inner atmosphere of competition will be provided by sports seats upholstered in Alcantara, and aluminum pedals and trim board available in Piano Black shades.

Meanwhile, the Volkswagen Passat Exclusive boasts its 18-inch wheels with sports suspension and a Nappa leather upholstery offered a chocolate tone that fits perfectly with wood or aluminum trim, available at inside.

The fact that we are dealing with a regular Passat is signaled by the inscriptions we thresholds, marked Exclusive trim level, which will enjoy the wagon version, the photos and classic saloon. What model would you prefer, between the two, if Volkswagen would sell the rest of Europe?

VW temporary auto-pilot

It seems that the sequences of sci-fi movies, when the driver enter the destination and the car runs only, are very close to be reality. VW introduces a new generation of automatic pilot.

How will be that during the “journey” to work, read news, drink coffee or do your “homework” for the big meeting? It seems a picture torn from SF movies, isn’t it? But still, it seems that car manufacturers want to make autopilot function in its true meaning. Once you activated the system, the car really run single.

In these way VW manufacturers such as Toyota or Audi, this is trying to develop it. VW has a technology that is called “Temporary Auto Pilot”. It works by combining two systems, Cruise Control and Lane Assist. The combination of the two allows the car to run at least on highways with speeds up to 129 km/h without driver intervention. Of course it must supervize smooth running of things; however the system is in its infancy.

The system keeps distance from the car in front, it slows down when approaching, “read” road signs on the highway and “act” accordingly. In case of traffic jam, the system is able to stop the car, all automatically.

The bright side of things, compared to other experimental systems offered by Audi and Toyota, is that of the VW system is based on sensors and radars that already are on the car. This allows us to believe that in the next few years will see some of VW cars with these systems implemented and fully functional.
